VA Desert Pacific Health Care Network Announces Partnership to Offer Online Training Program for Veterans Choice Program Providers

We are excited to announce the launch of Operation Treat a Veteran (OTaV)—a free, online training program available to community-based health care providers who would like to learn more about treating Veterans while increasing referrals through the Veterans Choice Program.

Due to your commitment to serving our nation’s Veterans, we would like to invite you to participate in this free online training while receiving continuing education (CE) credit.

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Desert Pacific Health Care Network, Center for Deployment Psychology, PsychArmor Institute and TriWest joined forces to create this program. It expands Veterans’ access to timely, high-quality health care services beyond VA by preparing civilian providers to most effectively serve Veterans. As a behavioral health provider, OTaV will allow you to learn about Veteran and military culture, health care issues and specific treatment methods, such as Evidence-Based Psychotherapies. For example, the program includes the first ever, full-length online training in evidence-based treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in Veterans. This approach will help you build confidence to effectively treat Veteran patients. We would like to emphasize that participating in OTaV is optional for all community-based health care providers in TriWest Healthcare Alliance’s regions; the level of completion is at your discretion.

Training modules cover two broad topics: Military Lifestyle and Culture, and Evidence-Based Psychotherapy. Please visit: www.triwest.com/otav to get started and learn more about how to participate in this one-of-a-kind program.

As always, thank you for partnering with us to help care for our nation’s Veterans!
