TRICARE For Life Travels with Eligible Beneficiaries Facing a New Move

PHOENIX (January 14, 2026) — Whether moving across town or far away, retaining preferred health care is important for physical wellness and peace of mind.

For older TRICARE beneficiaries on Medicare who may move, the Defense Health Agency (DHA) wants them to know TRICARE For Life (TFL) moves with them.

TFL provides Medicare-wraparound coverage for TRICARE beneficiaries who have Medicare Part A and Part B, regardless of age or location in the U.S., DHA says.

Under TFL, Medicare and TRICARE work together to minimize costs for care in the U.S. and U.S. territories, DHA explains.

For overseas care, TFL becomes beneficiaries’ primary coverage unless they have other health insurance.

TFL beneficiaries must update their address with each permanent move, and they also need to explore their options for getting local care and filling prescriptions, DHA adds.
