TRICARE Beneficiaries: Understand Home Health Care and Pharmacy Home Delivery

PHOENIX (September 24, 2025) – For some TRICARE-eligible Service members, their family members, and military retirees, difficulties with mobility can make leaving home for care a struggle.

The Defense Health Agency (DHA) wants eligible beneficiaries to know some TRICARE plans include convenient services making it easier to access certain home care and prescription medications delivery.

These plans include specific in-home health services and pharmacy home delivery options. TRICARE covers these services as part of its home health care benefit, DHA says.

Access to TRICARE home health care benefits require a prescription by a network provider or must be medically necessary, DHA adds. In-home health services also require completion by a TRICARE-authorized home health agency.

TRICARE-eligible beneficiaries should also understand these plan benefits require pre-authorization, DHA emphasizes.
