Beginning in January 2025, TriWest Healthcare Alliance undertook a new partnership with the U.S. Department of War (DOW) to administer the TRICARE program in 26 western states, facilitating community-based healthcare for active duty military members, retirees, and their families.
Since assuming administration of the TRICARE West Region contract, TriWest Healthcare Alliance has:
- Paid nearly 40 million provider claims totaling more than $11 billion.
- Received 5 million referrals and authorizations for care.
- Facilitated more than 27 million community healthcare encounters.
- Processed 99% of claims within 30 days.
- Answered nearly 95% of customer service calls within 30 seconds.

Courage to Quit
Shayla Delgado of Colorado didn’t know the impact that picking up an incoming phone call from TriWest would bring to her life and overall health. The wife of a U.S. Army Veteran and TRICARE beneficiary, Shayla smoked cigarettes for about three years and considered herself a light smoker. About five years ago she started vaping nicotine. With the help of a disease manager at TriWest, Shayla found the courage to quit.
