TRICARE Beneficiaries: How TRICARE Helps with Cancer Screening

PHOENIX (March 6, 2026) — The Defense Health Agency (DHA) wants TRICARE beneficiaries to understand it’s possible to detect some types of cancer before any signs or symptoms.

DHA emphasizes getting preventive screening tests allows finding cancer early a powerful tool for making it easier to treat.

TRICARE covers cancer screenings based on beneficiaries’ age, sex, and certain risk factors. It’s important to know which screenings are recommended and when you should get them.

Many cancer screenings are covered as part of a Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Examination or a well-woman exam. These exams are a good time for beneficiaries to inquire with their providers about:

  • Their risk factors for different cancers
  • Which cancers should be screened
  • Which screening tests they should use
  • How often they should be screened
