VHA Announces Technology to Streamline Veterans’ Community Care Scheduling

PHOENIX (April 14, 2025) — The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has developed new technology to expedite and streamline community care appointment scheduling for Veterans.

The technology, announced by the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Office of Integrated Veteran Care, will allow VA staff to set community care appointments directly into local community care providers’ schedules.

According to VHA, the technology is expected to reduce Veterans’ scheduling wait times and minimize exchanges with VA staff to set community care appointments.

‘External Provider Scheduling’ is currently available at 30 VA Medical Centers and is anticipated to be available nationwide by the end of 2025.

The new technology will allow Veterans to have greater control of their health care through real-time scheduling that gets them to providers faster, VHA says.
