TriWest Healthcare Alliance General Counsel Honored with Outstanding Chief Legal Officer Award

WASHINGTON (July 17, 2025) — TriWest Healthcare Alliance (TriWest), one of the nation’s largest federal contractors, announced today that its General Counsel, Brian Ewart, received the prestigious Outstanding Chief Legal Officer Award – Leading Through Growth & Transformation presented by the Association of Corporate Counsel. The association’s National Capital Region chapter presented Ewart with the award at a reception last night near TriWest’s office in the Washington, D.C. area.

“Brian has exemplified leadership and innovation in his role as General Counsel for TriWest during a period of extraordinary growth and transformation,” said TriWest President and CEO David J. McIntyre, Jr. “Since he joined TriWest in 2015, Brian has been a key part of our team responsible for the significant scaling of our enterprise with the work in which we are privileged to be engaged in support of both the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Defense. In his role, he leads a team that is tirelessly focused on the work at hand while demonstrating immense integrity and innovation – both of which are core values of TriWest.”

The award recognized Ewart for his work in 2024 leading the defense of TriWest’s successful bid for the $65 billion, nine-year Department of Defense TRICARE West Region health care contract and paving the way for implementation across 26 U.S. states. In a year of transition for TriWest, he led a team of internal and external attorneys who also negotiated and coordinated subcontracts with a large ecosystem of vendors, including small business vendors, and supported provider network contracting that encompass more than one million access points for care

Under Ewart’s leadership, his team supported the doubling of TriWest’s workforce across 36 states and implemented enhanced compliance measures for business systems to meet federal requirements. In collaboration with TriWest leadership, Ewart initiated the development of an AI policy and governance structure, reflecting his forward-thinking approach to legal and operational challenges.
