TriWest Receives HIRE Vets Medallion Award from U.S. Labor Department for Third Consecutive Year

PHOENIX (November 8, 2023) – TriWest Healthcare Alliance (TriWest) announced today that it has received the esteemed U.S. Department of Labor HIRE Vets Medallion Award for the third consecutive year for its record of recruiting, hiring and retaining U.S. Armed Forces Veterans.

Acting U.S. Secretary of Labor Julie A. Su awarded the Gold Level award recognizing TriWest’s established record of recruiting, hiring and retaining employees who are military Veterans and creating unique programs and benefits to support them. TriWest also was honored the previous two years with HIRE Vets Medallion Awards in the large company category.

“We are delighted and humbled to have been selected for this prestigious recognition for the third year, as we continue to hire and support our nation’s Veterans,” said TriWest President and CEO David J. McIntyre, Jr. “The HIRE Vets Medallion Award is an honor that recognizes our passion, privilege and commitment to hiring and retaining those who have given selflessly in their service to the nation.”

The Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans Act (HIRE Vets Act) Medallion Program is the only federal recognition of its kind recognizing the exceptional achievements of employers who value the innovative skills, integrity and values Veterans bring to the workplace.

TriWest met the criteria required for the award, achieving significant hiring and retention goals, and also has programs and policies in place supporting the unique needs of military Veterans and their families, including career development and employee resources.

HIRE Vets Medallion Award recipients are selected based on rigorous employment and integration assistance criteria from the preceding year.

“We couldn’t do our important work without the tireless dedication and determination of our employees, each of whom works to ensure that our nation’s military and Veterans receive the quality care they have earned and deserve,” said McIntyre. “We look forward to continuing the mission of serving our nation’s military, military families and Veterans.”

TriWest is privileged to support the health care needs of the nation's Veterans, offering access to quality provider networks and excellent customer service through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Community Care Network (CCN) in Regions 4 and 5. Prior to its current contracts with VA, TriWest administered the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) TRICARE program for 17 years. In 2022, TriWest was awarded a contract to administer the next-generation TRICARE program, known as “T-5,” for its 26-state West Region territory.
