As a TRICARE beneficiary, you may have wondered what role TriWest Healthcare Alliance plays in your TRICARE benefit. The short answer is simple: TriWest administers the TRICARE program throughout the West Region.

Understanding the TRICARE Program
TRICARE is the health care entitlement earned by our nation’s armed forces, whether active duty or retired, a member of the National Guard or Reserves, their families and survivors. The government program brings together health care resources while integrating with civilian networks to provide a robust health care system.

TRICARE includes medical, dental, vision, pharmacy and retirement benefits for its beneficiaries. And the benefit extends beyond the borders of the U.S., covering beneficiaries all over the world.

What does TriWest have to do with it?
Administration of the TRICARE medical entitlement is divided among three regions – North, South and West. Each region has a contractor that manages the benefit for beneficiaries residing within their region.

TriWest Healthcare Alliance is the contractor for the West Region, which includes 21 states as far north as Alaska, as far west as Hawaii, and as far east as Missouri.
