Professional Help
It is important to acknowledge the need for support and to seek help from trusted individuals before a minor problem becomes a crisis. If you experience a problem with depression, anxiety, or substance abuse, during any stage of the deployment cycle, help is available.
Post-Deployment Health Reassessment (PDHRA) The PDHRA extends the range of resources for service members who are deploying. The PDHRA provides education, screening, assessment and access to health care once a service member has returned from deployment. The goal of reassessment is to minimize any negative impact of deployment on a service member’s health. Returning service members in all branches of military service are required to participate in the PDHRA between 90 and 180 days after deployment.
Breaking Down Barriers to Seeking Mental Health Treatment An important first step to managing mental health required getting motivated to get professional help from a primary care doctor or a mental health professional.
