Becky McPhetridgeYou know it’s tough enough being a teen in the world today. In addition to the normal emotional challenges you may be facing, now you’re asked to cope with your Mom or Dad being deployed, or returning home from a deployment. You may be experiencing feelings of sadness, concern, confusion, even anger and frustration; you may not even be sure how you feel, or how you should feel. [edit ] The thoughts and concerns you are facing are perfectly normal. You may or may not have friends or classmates that are going through the same feelings you are; you may feel that this is unfair and be wondering why does my family have to go through this. [edit] Some key points to keep in mind when you’re going through a deployment or re-union are: communicate, contribute, find time for yourself, have patience, and give your parent or guardian some time to adjust back into life back at home when they return from deployment. |
