SANTA ANA, CA (Sept. 5, 2007) – Once again, TriWest Health Alliance stepped up as a major sponsor of the September 11 Freedom Walks. TriWest will provide financial support as well as volunteers and walkers for the six Western Region Freedom Walks organized by Operation Homefront on behalf of America Supports You. The locations are San Diego, Phoenix, Tucson, Seattle, Honolulu, and Portland, Oregon.
"Freedom Walks give Americans a chance to honor those lost on Sept. 11, and to all who have bravely sacrificed their lives to protect our freedom," said TriWest President and CEO David J. McIntyre, Jr. "By participating in these walks, Americans can show the world our unwavering resolve and support for those who continue to fight for freedom."
"TriWest’s generosity in sponsoring the Freedom Walks means that more Americans than ever can participate in a spectacular memorial event that they and their children will remember," said Meredith Leyva, Founder of Operation Homefront.
Operation Homefront, as a leading member of America Supports You, the Department of Defense program created to connect the nation’s support for the troops directly to the troops and their families, is playing a key role in organizing, for the second consecutive year, Freedom Walks in twenty cities. The first Freedom Walk, held on September 11, 2005 in our Nation’s capitol, brought together more than 15,000 walkers – including family members of the victims of September 11, Members of Congress, administration officials, federal workers, corporate employees, civic organizations, and citizens from around the country. In 2006, communities in all fifty states and more than 130 cities hosted Freedom Walks, many with the leadership and assistance of Operation Homefront.
