Referral Required for Urgent or Out of Area Care

If you are a Prime beneficiary enrolled to a Military Treatment Facility (MTF) and need Urgent or Out of Area care, you must seek a referral from a Primary Care Manager (PCM) located at your local MTF. Failure to do so will result in the claim processing as a Point of Service (POS) claim, and you will be required to pay POS cost shares and deductibles.

To avoid any hassle in receiving your service or with billing, be sure to call your PCM prior to seeking Urgent or Out of Area Care. After a referral has been acquired from your PCM, call 1-888-Tri-West for assistance in finding a provider.
