TRICARE Covers School Physicals, Not Sports Physicals

A friendly reminder that TRICARE-eligible dependents who are at least 5 years old and less than 12 years old may get physical exams that are required by a school in connection with the enrollment as a student in that school. This benefit does not include physical exams that may be required by the school solely to participate in school sports.

TRICARE Prime enrollees will not have co-payments or need referrals or authorizations from their primary care managers unless they go to a non-network provider. TRICARE Standard and Extra beneficiaries do not have to get referrals, but they will have to pay applicable cost shares and deductibles for the school physicals.
