TRICARE Family Coverage Extended for Reserve Component Members

Transitional Assistance Management Program (TAMP) health care coverage is available for 180 days following deactivation for those Reserve Component (RC) members who have been deployed for 30 or more days of active duty in support of contingency operations. TAMP medical benefits allow RC members and their families to participate in all medical benefits allowed for TRICARE Prime, Extra and Standard participants. For those on active duty, TRICARE Prime Remote (TPR) and TRICARE Prime Remote for Active Duty Family Members (TPRADFM) options are not available during the TAMP benefit period.

The TRICARE Reserve Family Demonstration Project (TRFDP) ensures timely access to health care for families of activated reservists. This demonstration project is available to RC members who have served under a contingency operation through Oct. 31, 2007.

The primary cost benefits associated with the Reserve Family Demonstration Project are waiver of Standard and Extra deductibles.
