Western Governors Encourage Providers to Support TRICARE Health System

Since last summer, members of the Western Governors Association have sent letters supporting TRICARE and TriWest to the leaders of their respective state medical associations as well as various federal officials. The Western Governors also encouraged their respective National Guard and Reserve members and their families to enroll in the expanded TRICARE Reserve Select (TRS) program.

In June, 2006, Western Governors adopted a policy resolution regarding the need for a comprehensive health care solution for National Guard personnel and urged employers to assist their Guard and Reserve employees with their cost share for TRICARE healthcare services. The Governors applauded the healthcare providers in the Western Region that currently accept TRICARE patients and urged more providers to join in serving the nation’s citizen soldiers.
