Provider Panel Survey Summary on TriWest Provider Directory
TriWest is interested in feedback from our network providers to help improve our Web-based services and resources. We have created a panel of providers who have agreed to respond to short Internet-based surveys four times a year. The first study was focused on the Provider Directory.
Study Highlights
There were 453 responses from our panel of 850 members from a representative geographic distribution and included representatives of providers and facilities. Here are some highlights of their responses:
- About half of the respondents review the Provider Directory at least on a monthly basis
- Three out of four participants who use the Provider Directory are satisfied with the accuracy of their information in the Provider Directory; that satisfaction is higher among those who use it most frequently.
- While about half of the respondents do not use the Provider Directory at all to find a TRICARE network provider, those who do are most likely to search by name or location.
- Several additions to the Provider Directory were cited as desirable:
- Office hours
- Web site address
- Map of locations
- Practice focus or areas of interest
- E-mail address
- Hospital affiliation
Of those participants who gave an opinion, nearly all said they would be willing to go online and provide updates to their information.

Based on a previous provider survey, TriWest has speeded up implementation of new functionalities for providers on the secure provider portal at
www.triwest.com/provider, including:
- Enhancements to Online Referral/Authorization View Status– October 2009
- West Region Benefit Lookup Tool for verifying patient eligibility and benefit coverage –
October 2009
TriWest will be implementing the following enhancements to the Provider Directory:
- Practice Focus or Areas of Interest for Behavioral Health Specialties – October 2009
- Interactive mapping of provider locations and search results based on new criteria – Early 2010
For each panel study, we are giving two lucky participants a $250 gift card. The winners for this study were:
