TriWest Enhances Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Program

Effective May 1, 2009, TriWest enhanced its TBI program to provide additional support for active duty service members (ADSMs) and their families in TRICARE’s West Region.

TriWest has established a dedicated TBI health support team to work in partnership with Military Treatment Facility (MTF) staff and provide assistance to active duty TBI patients. Program enhancements include:

• Case Management Support Representatives (CMSRs)
  • Primary point of contact for referrals
  • Specially trained to handle benefits information and other non-clinical needs of the active duty service member (ADSM)
  • Close coordination with Case Management
  • Actively monitor and follow up with ADSMs

The TriWest TBI team is available to support and collaborate with MTFs to help active duty TBI patients (including members of the National Guard and Reserve who sustained a TBI while on active duty) and their families learn about all aspects of their TRICARE and Veterans Administration (VA) benefits, as well as other available resources.

To refer an ADSM with a TBI to TriWest’s TBI Program, please complete the Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Program referral form and fax it to 1-(866) 269-5758. The form is available on www.triwest.com/provider under the Find a Form tab>Clinical Programs.
