TriWest Healthcare Alliance Urges Testing in Southern Nevada

TriWest Healthcare Alliance is concerned about TRICARE beneficiaries in Southern Nevada who may have potentially been exposed to the hepatitis C virus at the Endoscopy Center of Southern Nevada and several of its related medical offices when receiving services between March 2004 and January 11, 2008, particularly on July 25, 2007 and Sept. 21, 2007.

TriWest is urging these beneficiaries to be tested for hepatitis C. This testing is covered by TRICARE and does not require prior authorization. TRICARE beneficiaries should have doctor’s orders for the testing prior to presenting at a laboratory for services. Active Duty Service Members and Prime beneficiaries who wish to receive testing from a network civilian specialist should have a referral from their Primary Care Manager prior to making their appointment; otherwise, point of service charges for the office visit may apply.

TriWest applauds the care and concern that providers in the Nevada TRICARE provider network and those at Nellis Air Force Base have shown in meeting this public health challenge. Your assistance in evaluating your patients for their risk of contracting hepatitis C, hepatitis B and HIV has done much to address beneficiary concerns. Your assuming care for TRICARE beneficiaries who may have been displaced by the closure of the Endoscopy Center and its related medical offices is also greatly appreciated.
