Update to S Codes

As of 10/1/07, all S codes with the exception of nine were placed on the Government No Pay List. Therefore, claims billed with S codes with dates of service 10/1/07 and later, with the exception of the following nine codes have been denied:

  • S1030
  • S1031
  • S1040
  • S2066
  • S2067
  • S9122
  • S9123
  • S9124
  • S9430
Authorization requests for S code services will be denied. Providers who have authorizations for S code services that extend beyond 10/1/07 should contact TriWest to request a new authorization with alternate codes.

In most cases, you should bill TRICARE as you would bill Medicare for services that you previously billed with S codes, e.g., A codes and E codes for infusion supplies and appropriate nursing codes.
