Help Your Patients Get Important Screenings and Exams

TriWest Healthcare Alliance’s Population Health Improvement department is responsible for monitoring TriWest’s performance involving Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS)-like measures. The metrics currently being tracked are breast, cervical, and colorectal cancer screening compliance; well-child visits; asthma; and diabetes care. In addition to monitoring compliance, TriWest has instituted various educational tools to encourage beneficiaries to obtain these cancer screenings and/or exams.
TriWest actively tracks beneficiaries with diabetes who are not completing the appropriate diabetic lab tests and reminds them that they are due for their screenings. In addition, we notify new mothers regarding well-baby doctor visits for their newborns. Our goal is to educate new mothers about child health maintenance guidelines, informing them that their child should receive at least six well-child exams in the first 15 months of life.
We look to you, our TRICARE providers, for assistance to ensure that during your routine communications with your TRICARE patients, your discussion includes informing the patients about the necessity for cancer screenings and well-child exams; understanding the importance of maintaining a healthy body mass index (BMI); and how to start and maintain tobacco cessation.
Let’s work together for our beneficiaries!
