TRICARE Mail Order Pharmacy - A Good Option
5/20/2010
To help ensure that TRICARE beneficiaries reduce their out-of-pocket costs, please remind them that the TRICARE Mail Order Pharmacy is the least expensive option when not using a military pharmacy and it has several other advantages. It’s safe, convenient and easy to use even when they’re traveling on a temporary assignment or if they move.
A TRICARE beneficiary may receive up to a 90-day supply for most medications through the Mail Order Pharmacy for minimal out-of-pocket costs, and the medications will be delivered to the beneficiary’s home. Once the beneficiary has registered, refills may be requested by mail, phone or online.
TriWest recommends that TRICARE beneficiaries use the Mail Order Pharmacy for prescriptions on a regular basis. If the beneficiary needs immediate relief from a pain medication or antibiotic, the beneficiary should have the prescription filled at a military pharmacy or retail network pharmacy.
Converting Prescriptions
If a beneficiary is already having prescriptions filled at a TRICARE retail network pharmacy, and the beneficiary would rather use the mail order pharmacy, the beneficiary can quickly and easily convert his/her prescriptions to the mail order pharmacy in approximately 4-7 minutes.
The TRICARE Pharmacy Program provides comprehensive pharmacy benefits through military treatment facility pharmacies, the TRICARE Mail Order Pharmacy program, and TRICARE network and non-network retail pharmacies.
