TRICARE Benefits

Your TRICARE Benefits Explained

Extended Care Health Option (ECHO)

For beneficiaries with specific mental or physical disabilities, the TRICARE Extended Care Health Option (ECHO) provides financial assistance for an integrated set of services and supplies not available through the basic TRICARE program.

TRICARE ECHO does not replace benefits from other TRICARE programs; it offers supplemental benefits to the eligible beneficiary’s TRICARE program.

Eligibility for the ECHO program is limited to beneficiaries who are:

  • active duty family members (including family members of activated National Guard or Reserve members)
  • residing in the continental United States or one of the U.S. territories
  • qualified through ECHO nurses in each TRICARE region
  • enrolled in the Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) through their sponsor’s service branch

Learn more by downloading the TRICARE ECHO Benefit Flyer, the Organization for Autism Research’s “Life Journey through Autism: A Guide for Military Families,” or by contacting your ECHO nurse.
