David J. McIntyre, Jr., is President and CEO of TriWest Healthcare Alliance. Since the company’s inception in 1996, Mr. McIntyre has led TriWest’s strategic vision to provide service members, veterans and their families with access to high-quality health care.

Mr. McIntyre has more than 30 years of experience, success and accomplishments in national healthcare policy development, business development and leadership. He served for nearly nine years in the offices of the U.S. Senate, where he was responsible for health policy issues for Senator Slade Gorton (R-WA), Senator John McCain (R-AZ) and the Senate Indian Affairs Committee; he also contributed to the work of the Senate Armed Services Committee.

He returned to Arizona as Vice President for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Arizona and had direct responsibility for legislative matters, media relations and several strategic projects, including developing TriWest and its initial contract proposal in the mid-1990s.

Mr. McIntyre has a bachelor's degree in political science from Seattle Pacific University, a master's degree in administrative sciences (with an emphasis in management and health policy/administration) from Johns Hopkins University and he participated in the Executive Education Program for Senior Government Managers at Harvard University.

Mr. McIntyre has received numerous awards and recognitions for his efforts, including the Corporate Statesmanship Award from the U.S. Association of Former Members of Congress in 2012; the Healthcare Leadership Award from Arizona Business Magazine in 2011; the Distinguished Service Award from the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) in 2010; and the American Patriot Award from the Iraq Stars Foundation in 2009.

In addition to leading TriWest, he serves on the USO Board of Governors; Fisher House Foundation Board of Trustees; Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation Board of Directors; Seattle Pacific University Board of Trustees; National Guard Youth Foundation Board; and Arizona State University's Center for Services Leadership Advisory Board.
