Frank "Mac" Maguire joined TriWest in 2003. For 15 years he served as the Chief Medical Officer. His TriWest experience included directing and coordinating network development, referral management, contact center operations, appointing, medical management, behavioral health and clinical quality. In May of 2018, Dr. Maguire transitioned from Chief Medical Officer to Senior Clinical Advisor to the President and CEO with a focus on provider communications and contracts, contract modifications, telemedicine applications, and process improvement related to external audits.
Having retired from the Navy after a long and distinguished career, Mac has a strong background in health care administration within the Military Health System. He served as the Deputy Commander at National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda and as Executive Assistant to the Surgeon General of the Navy. He also served at both the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs and as Chief of Staff of the TRICARE Management Activity, which oversaw the defense health program, including 75 military hospitals, 460 clinics and civilian Managed Care Support Contractors providing medical and dental care to over 8.7 million beneficiaries.
Mac completed his M.D. at the University of Illinois and is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Chest Physicians.
