120th of the Month Rule: If your retirement date is on a day of the month other than the 1st of the month, and you do not submit your new form before your retirement date, then the 20th of the month rule applies. This means you must submit your form by the 20th of the month in which you retire for your Prime coverage to begin first day of the next month. Examples using retirement date March 1, 2008: If your application is received and date stamped March 3, 2008, your enrollment will take effect April 1, 2008. If the application is received and date stamped March 25, 2008, your enrollment will take effect May 1, 2008. Applications received prior to the first of the month of the retirement date will be processed with an effective date the same as the retirement date (the 20th of the month rule does not apply). Example using retirement date April 1, 2008: If your application is received and date stamped March 31st, your enrollment will take effect starting on your retirement date, April 1, 2008. 2Lock out rules: If enrolled in TRICARE Prime, you are enrolled for a period of up to 12 months and remain enrolled unless you take an action to disenroll, lose your eligibility status, or, if retired, are disenrolled for failure to pay the required enrollment fees. If disenrolled, you may be subject to the 12-month lock out period. This means that you may not be eligible to re-enroll in Prime for a 12-month period from the effective date of disenrollment. |
